Excitement Is Your Soul Speaking: How to Recognize Intuition
There is a moment most of us have learned to talk ourselves out of.
Something crosses your path — a book, a practice, a conversation, a possibility — and before your mind has produced a single reason, something in you leans forward. The chest softens. The breath deepens. A quiet yes arrives, whole and unexplained.
And then, almost immediately, the explaining mind takes over. That’s not practical. That’s not the plan. Where would that even lead? The lean-forward gets filed away, and life continues on the “sensible” track.
This post is about that first moment — the lean, the flutter, the quiet yes — and what it actually is. Because that moment is not random. It is not indulgence, and it is not distraction. Very often, it is your Soul — the deepest part of who you are — speaking at its clearest.

Excitement Is a Signal, Not a Mood
We tend to treat excitement as decoration — a pleasant feeling that visits when something fun is nearby. But excitement, the true kind, behaves less like a mood and more like a signal. It is directional. It points.
Notice how specific it is. A hundred things can cross your awareness in a day and leave you unmoved, and then one of them lights you up — that one, not the others. That specificity is worth taking seriously. Something in you recognized something out there, and it likely wasn’t your logical mind doing the recognizing. Recognition is knowledge, and knowledge that arrives before reasoning has a name: intuition.
Your intuition is not a mystical add-on reserved for a gifted few. It is standard equipment, available to every one of us. Intuition speaks through the body faster than the mind can narrate — and one of its favorite languages is excitement. When something is aligned with your path, with what your Soul is here to experience and heal and become, the signal is often as simple as this: you feel more alive near it.
The Soul’s Yes — and Why It Reaches So Deep
Here is the frame I work from at Return to Balance: you are not separate from your Soul — you are your Soul, living this lifetime as you. Your Soul is not something above you, giving direction from a distance; it is the deepest truth of who you are. The intentions it carries for this lifetime — experiences to have, patterns to transform, remembrances to make — are your own intentions, held in the part of you that remembers why you came. And that deeper part of you is speaking with you constantly, not in lectures, but in signals: the pull, the lean, the lightness, the quiet yes.
So when excitement rises at the thought of a healing practice, a new direction, a deeper layer of your own growth — pause before dismissing it. That excitement may be you, at the Soul level, recognizing something you have been waiting for. It may be readiness, announcing itself.
This is also why the work that excitement points toward tends to reach so deep. The Soul’s level is what many traditions call the Akashic level — the level where the record of all your experience is held: this lifetime, and beyond it. Healing at the Akashic level is not surface-level self-help. It is transformation at the root, where the oldest patterns live. And at the Soul level, you know exactly which roots are ready. That knowing rises to the surface as a feeling — often, as excitement.
A Simple Test: Does the Pull Survive?
Not every spark is the Soul’s yes, and part of honoring your intuition is learning to tell the signals apart. Here is one of the most reliable tests we know:
Imagine that no one will ever know you did this thing, and it will earn you nothing. Does the pull remain?
Excitement that comes from the possibility of approval, status, or escape tends to collapse under that question — it was pointing at the audience, not the thing. But the Soul’s yes survives it easily. It doesn’t need witnesses. It was never about being seen; it was about being lived.
A second marker: the Soul’s yes tends to feel spacious rather than grasping. It draws you forward; it does not chase you forward. There is no hurry, before it’s gone inside it — that urgency belongs to fear, and fear is a different messenger (one that deserves its own article, later in this series). True excitement is patient. It keeps tapping the same shoulder, gently, for as long as it takes.
What Happens When You Honor the Signal
The relationship between you and your intuition works like any relationship: it strengthens when communication is received and acted on.
Every time you notice the quiet yes and honor it — even in the smallest way — the signal grows clearer. Every time you override it, the volume softens a little. Nothing is ever lost; the signal cannot be destroyed, only quieted. But most of us have spent years overriding, and then wondered why we can’t “hear our intuition.” The hearing was never broken. It was simply waiting to be answered.
So the practice is beautifully simple, and you can begin today:
- Notice the lean. When something lights you up, let yourself register it fully before the explaining mind arrives. Just notice: something in me said yes.
- Ask the test question. Would the pull survive with no audience and no reward? If yes, you are likely hearing something true.
- Honor it at any scale. You don’t have to overturn your life. Read the article. Ask the question. Take the one small step the excitement points toward. The Soul’s yes doesn’t need grand gestures — only response.
And notice what happens over the following days. For many people, honoring one true yes is followed by another arriving more clearly — as though a channel, long unused, is opening again. And it is.
Your Excitement Is Trustworthy
You may have been taught, in a hundred quiet ways, to treat your excitement with suspicion — that the responsible thing is to consult everyone and everything except the signal inside you. We would offer you the opposite premise, and this whole series rests on it:
Your excitement is one of the most trustworthy guides you have ever been given. It is specific to you. It is calibrated to your nature, your history, your path — precise as a fingerprint. No one else can read it, and no one else needs to. It was placed in you, by design, so that you would always be able to find your way.
The rest of this series teaches the discernment skills that make that guidance practical: how curiosity works as a compass, how the body confirms a true yes, how to tell intuition from fear, and why you never need the whole map to take the next step. Each skill builds on this one first premise — the lean-forward means something.
So the next time something stirs when you read about a healing, a practice, a possibility — don’t rush past it. Stay with it for one breath longer than usual. Ask what it’s pointing toward.
It may be you, at the level of your Soul, saying: this one. And now you’re hearing yourself.
An Open Door
If something in you leaned forward while reading this, that leaning is welcome here. The guided activations at Return to Balance are in the recording stage now, and they are being created to work at the level this article describes — the Soul level, the Akashic level, where the deepest patterns are held and transformed. Every activation is personally facilitated by Jordan, in partnership with Divine Light and Divine Assistance, and nothing is required of you but openness.
A gentle first step, free for everyone, is being recorded now too: The Divine Crystalline Light Activation. Watch for it — and when it arrives, let your own excitement tell you whether it’s yours, and what comes next. By now, you know what that excitement is.
If you feel drawn to work with me directly, I am happily accepting new clients at this time.
Whatever you do, let your excitement guide the choice.
